And in all of those cases, Dell was growing much faster than it is now.

Dell can't grow this way forever. It has had a spectacular run.

Computer prices keep falling and the competition is getting fierce.

Example: There have been a lot of great deals in the past month for IBM Thinkpads, especially the thinkPad 770. I have seen fast Thinkpads with 14.1" TFT screens and a DVD drive going for under $2500. Microwarehouse has been offering this for the past several weeks.

With this kind of pricing on what many people consider to be the ultimate high-end laptop, it makes it harder for Dell to compete.

The growth rate has to slow down. And it apparently is. Even the 40 percent revenue growth rate Dell will show this quarter is going to go lower.

This time next year, people on this thread will be reminiscing about the good old days of 40 percent growth...
