Tony - When the news came, about one month ago, that Yocam resigned his post at the BOD of ORCL, it rang a bell in my head. I thought why would he do that just now. I mean not before and not after. I had never seen before that anything in the press or elsewhere about Borland and Oracle having any relationship or any interest in each other. I thought maybe it is a matter of conflict of interest. I didn't even see in what way could Borland be useful to Oracle. Since then, though, the story only grew and recently it became clear that Oracle needs Borland's expertise and indeed it is interested in Borland. Somewhere I even read that Oracle tried to buy Latte from Borland. Now I am convinced that Oracle would buy Borland without hesitation if the price is right. About $400MM, however, is too cheap and I doubt that Yocam would go for that. This maybe in fact what is holding the deal. Maybe something would eventually work out such as splitting the difference?! This is just an opinion, though, and it is based on ituition and some logic. Time will tell but the thing is getting more likely by the day. Ghassan.
