Brandon,

In case you missed it, on 5/1 a U.S. district court in CA "issued three rulings which invalidate or render unenforceable two U.S. patents owned by ASM in epitaxial processing, severely weakening ASM's patent lawsuits against Applied Materials". I'm not sure what other potential patent liability is hanging out there over AMAT, but hopefully this ruling was significant in relation to the total picture.

Your cost basis in TI is at a good level. Unfortunately mine is around $65/share. I still pick up a couple shares a month in my 401K but it is such a small percentage compared with my total position that I'm pretty much stuck at $65. However the view of your cost basis is totally dependent on where the stock is at. Last fall when the stock was at $80+, $65 looked pretty good. Now it doesn't look so good, but time is on my side so I'm not sweating it.

Some interesting predictions about Applied on the AMAT thread. I guess we'll know for sure in about a week.

Later,

JP
