It is important to remember that "intellectual honesty" may have little or nothing to do with "intellectual correctness" shall we say. If analysts that spew forth intellectual trash are consistently wrong they do have some value. Simply do the opposite. It would appear that the two analysts with negative comments regarding DELL are perhaps the two analysts with the least amount of credibility and therefore the least to loose by unleashing their swill on the street. They don't have a clue, they are simply gamblers hoping they make a call that finally comes through one day so that they can beat on their chest and proclaim that they called a turn in DELL.

For your reading pleasure I present an exchange below from a guy that works the BUY side of the street for clients not the Sell side for his/her firm:

Thanks, its only an opinion. It amazes me about how fragile and ficke this market is when 2 analysts who have been wrong all along come out with bearish calls on Dell this morning and everyone follows along, while an analyst from Credit Swiss comes in at the same time with a strong buy and extreme bullish reiteration and is totally ignored. The guy has been right all along, but everyone is nervous. It will be fascinating to see what happens after dell announces on Tuesday evening. The conference call to follow will be listened to carefully. What happens to the stock on Wednesday depends on the spin. Bythe way the bearish comments didn't alter the view that Dell will come in on target relative to earnings. You know it really doesn't matter if you are not trading the stock. Michael Dell will figure out how to keep the story fresh and that is the real bet.

Been buying Dell this morning. As much and as fast as i could. Not for
everyone but as much as possible. Analysts have opinions and guess. That is all. My bet is on Michael Dell not some idiot from Banc of Boston or Smith Barney. Be thankful that those morons exist. Without them where would good buying opps. happen. Naturally those two analysts have been wrong about Dell for years. I happened to check out their record this morning and it stinks. Dell will make the numbers the Street expects when they announce on Tuesday evening, but that is not why I am buying the name. Micheal Dell will persist evolving his business model and the story will stay fresh. That is what i believe and don't doubt. Ultimately the price will rise to greater levels.

Regards,
From one who brought more DELL calls today and currently has 50 DELL CALL contracts

PS. While DELL stock sold off hard today - no one has mentioned the CALL option volume today with the Feb 100 and 105's in particular. It seems that a lot of people think that DELL will be quite a bit higher sometime between TUE and COB next FRI.
