*MSFT as buddy and executioner* Chaz, Microsoft presumably joins a partnership like WirelessKnowledge, but continues down other paths to compete flat out with it, destroying it if possible and grabbing all the customers for themselves. That makes sense to me and I'm all in favour of it. I hope Q! is doing the same. Building Eudora, pdQ, Minicells and the whole panoply of WWeb stuff so that THEY can compete with WK and get all the customers.

By being in WK, Qualcomm has a better chance of defeating Ericy and all the rest than if they just battled away alone. Maybe it is a bit like the way hyenas hunt - in a semi-partnership to capture the prey, then a squabble among them to see who gets to eat. Hopefully, MSFT and Q! will do the job more intelligently than Hyenas. But the Ericy Jackal won't get a look in until both MSFT and Q! have got big fat tummies.

Relax! It's a bit like Nokia is going to help make Q! have wild success with cdma2000. Friend and competitor simultaneously.
