Agreed, but:

Online bookstores have no exclusive content.

They have no exclusive technology.

Anyone can secure and sell the books they are selling, including the well positioned booksellers.

"It" was a pure hype play.

The CEO was a young guy with little bookstore experience.

Serious booksellers were gearing up.

Yet... Amazon.com.

Quod Erat Demonstrandum.

By the way, in my view, the domain name emusic is worth at least $150 million, the current value of GDNO's stock, so I think it's a no lose long term. Emusic could be a site to buy and sell music (like ebay); to buy retail (like AMZN, CD Now, etc.); to listen to music (like BCST); and to develop music. The possibility of hype of such a website (and possibly a spinoff IPO by GDNO) makes it all the more enticing.
