Glenayre Western Multiplex Wins Endorsement for Tsunami Line of EthernetBridges
Industry Analyst Alunni Says New Radios 'A Solid Solution'
SUNNYVALE, Calif., Feb. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Glenayre Western Multiplex's new entry into the Ethernet connectivity market -- its Tsunami(TM) family of wireless Ethernet and Fast Ethernet bridges -- has won strong endorsement from industry analyst Samuel A. Alunni.
Alunni, president of Sterling Research Inc. in Sterling, Mass., said the Tsunami line "delivers a solid solution for datacomm and wireless service providers." He added, "The timing is very good for a wireless local loop bypass, and Glenayre Western Multiplex is prepared with rugged, reliable products that extend LAN infrastructure."
GWM introduced the Tsunami family on January 26th at the ComNet trade show in Washington, where the product line was one of four finalists for the New Product Achievement Award for Network Infrastructure. All Tsunami radios will be on display this week in New Orleans at Wireless '99, a major trade show for the wireless communications industry.
The Tsunami family includes microwave and millimeter wave bridges providing 10BaseT (Ethernet) and 100BaseT (Fast Ethernet) point-to-point wireless connections from less than one to more than 50 miles. There are license-free 10BaseT models, licensed 100BaseT models and a model believed to be the world's first license-free 100BaseT wireless bridge.
All the license-free models enable users to deploy wireless links without obtaining a spectrum license or undergoing frequency coordination. An additional benefit is that all Tsunami products provide full bandwidth performance regardless of distance.
"We are pleased that Sterling Research has given a strong endorsement to the Tsunami family of radios," commented Graham Barnes, senior vice president of sales and marketing for GWM. "We are proud of the record for reliability our products have earned over the past 18 years in T1/E1 wireless connectivity, and determined to continue that reputation in the world of Ethernet bridges."
Glenayre Western Multiplex, the industry leader in T1/E1 spread spectrum wireless interconnect, provides high-performance unlicensed (LYNX) and licensed (WM-series) digital microwave radios to the worldwide market. GWM supplies systems to wireless service operators, including cellular, PCS, data and Internet service providers. The company has also served private, industrial and government users, oil and gas companies, utilities, and railroads for over 19 years.
