1. more than 70% of option longs lost all or part of their money. This is historically very true and very likely will be for future also.
2. Once in a while the options long can get lucky and made some money. But like gambling, over the long run will lose out.
3. The options market can be somewhat manipulated by large investors and finanacial houses that also hold a large portion of the underlying stocks.
4. If more than 70% of options' long lost money than common sense said that it's better to be at the other side of the table. So, one wants to be short and not long, especially conservative short on puts of fundamentally strong underlying stocks that had dipped to the targeted bargain price points.
