emile,
I am in agreement with you that the "penetration of mysteries" that pertain to issues of faith and salvation require a renewed heart and mind given as gifts of God's grace.
But I also maintain that the progress of scientific inquiry into the historical issues surrounding the writing of the bible, including the interpretation of its content, really cannot nor ought not to be hindered. The Christian community, historically speaking, has had an embarrassingly poor relationship to science. But at heart scientists and religious believers are after the same thing: truth. I am convinced that, ultimately, God is author of all truth, however that truth may be discovered.
Respectfully, TC. |
