One of my favorites, though not at all glamorous is American Water Works, AWK on NYSE. We got into their DRIP when they offered a 5% discount for OCPs as well as reinvested dividends, which they cut out last spring, but I still think the company and the industry are well poised for growth through acquisition and expansion. I just returned from the Southwest, and it reiterated to me how important good, clean, safe water supplies are these days. Sooner or later, as municipalities divest themselves of utilities that can be privatized, there will be a few major players in this area, and I like AWK for the long-term.

Another holding we have is Colgate, which hasn't been doing too badly these days either. I think they can be hurt if the Dollar keeps getting stronger, but they're still clearly a leader in consumer products, IMHO.

Regards,

Rick
