I"ll take the bet that it was a midnight phone call. Revenue numbers that specific smell of this to me

How's this seniaro:
You're Dell mgnt and know you'll have a revenue shortfall of X.
You leak to an analyst that the shortfall is X+Y.
Stock takes a bit of a hit when this is announced.
Come Tuesday you announe earning w/ a revenue shortfall of X.
On Weds stock surges since the shortfall wasn't as great as reported.

This is what I'd do if I were Dell. Saying nothing and simply reporting a shortfall of X on Tuesday isn't as good a tactic because
you won't be able to report any positive news within the next couple
of days which could stem the stock price decline.

If Dell drops furthur on Tue I might pick up some just for a
quick trade (only hold until Wed afternoon).

Thought?
