Remember that Ken Starr didn't exactly disclose his relationship to Paula Jones...
when he requested that the Attorney General expand his authority?
OOPS...forgot that didn't you....plus you also forgot that Starr dropped all other investigations to pursue this one about someone lying about an affair to the public...
Now helping Paula Jones find her attorneys isn't exactly what you'd call an action of an "independent" council....
Now regarding the whole Paula Jones deposition, this
count of "perjury" wasn't even tried in the Senate.....
Why?
Because inditing Monica L in the first place wasn't relative to Jones's case.
Why?
Because Jones's case dealt with harassment...and NO account of this whole past ordeal w. Monica had anything to do with harassment....
Now did Clinton lie? Yes....to the public....
Lying to the public ..yes..committing perjury....NO....
Why?
Now remember Clinton wasn't impeached for perjury in the Jones deposition...he was impeached for perjury about perjuring himself in the Jones deposition to the Grand Jury...
Per the Jones deposition...He responded to the questions asked him....He was not asked the follow up questions that would have pinned him down...As a defendant, he has no obligation to offer information to the prosecution....Paula Jones attorneys simply did a poor job....
Thus he didn't perjure himself in front of the Grand Jury when he said he did not perjure himself in Paula Jones's deposition.
Not forthcoming...Yes...Perjury ...No
Maybe Jones shouldn't have gone to Ken Starr for a recommendation in the first place...

Now regardless of whether you agree or disagree..which the fervent Clinton haters seem impossible to reason with because an obsession with this disdain for Clinton has created near delusion as to the merits of the House Manager's case.....
The bigger question that was begged during these whole proceedings was...were these "high crimes and misdemeanors" for what, in essence, was lying to his wife, daughter, family, friends...and...yes to the ..public...about an affair...
Compare this lie of Clinton's to a "little" fib of Lyndon Johnson's....
Remember Johnson's reason for engaging in Vietnam?
That Gulf of Tonkin dousy..was a pretty good one..don't you think?
Now compare the consequences of LBJ's little story with that of our sex addicted current Chief Exec...
Yes the President has problems...remember his natural father was an alcoholic...who beat his mom..and his brother also had some drug problems ....seems to be a genetic weakness...which tends to be the case with addiction...due to hereditary AND cognitive patterns of development that become trans-generational...
Yes it was a national embarrassment (in essence, a publicized intervention for a person with an addiction problem) that Clinton, Starr, Trip and the House Managers put this country through....
But as a country...we have to allow people the opportunity to repent, recover, confront their demons, and hopefully grow....
LBJ's "little" fib, Nixon's using the powers of his office to obstruct justice, and Reagan's circumvention of laws to fund the Contra's were all impeachable offenses that rose to the level of High Crimes and Misdemeanors....whether these crimes were persecuted fully or not....
Thus...this really is Hillary's busines...because Clinton's lie were of a personal nature and not a function of his office...even if it diminished that office....Hillary has been dealing with this for awhile...she bought into this arrangement....and has apparantly learned to deal with it...
The only person I truly feel sorry for due to this whole farce...is Chelsea...(sp?)....
