Well said Helene,
Another way to say it:
It is now official, The Senate has given its approval to lying while under oath to tell the truth. It is tacitly ok to tell a lie, just don't tell a major lie.

ramifications: No way to tell for sure if a testimony is truthful or not. At that point "justice" fails.

There is no longer equal protection under law.

Power, popularity and influence are now shields between personal conduct and consequences that were once required by law.

ramifications: The ruling class returns to America

Freedom based upon the equality of law is now publicly terminated. You want to try and add up all the freedoms Americans have gained over the last 220 yr.s due to the equal application of the law? That principle is now ended. It joins the truth in this sham. Both are now officially subordinate to the power of government.

It is sad to say, but today most people have the same attitude about truth as does Clinton. What we see here is a direct result of the court system not forcing personal responsibility for ones personal actions upon those that do harm to others.
What we have just witnessed is a symptom that runs deep. It pervades our entire society from the President to the local homeless. It has to with what is called "hand slapping" in the court system. By not punishing those that harm other people, tacit approval is given to the action that caused harm. By not being held accountable for personal actions there is no longer an expected punishment for that action. (Most people that have a selfish tendency to place their greed above that of other peoples basic needs, require an obvious example of why they should not do something) That is tied very closely to the reason crime in America is so high.

I don't care what you say, I want ( fill in blank )

If I can get away with it once, I can do it again....

It is always the fault of someone else, not me.

I am not to blame, do not punish me, etc......

If you think that this does not affect and effect you on a personal level, you should think again.

and so it goes. The festering sore in society grows.

It saddens my heart more than you will ever know to watch the decline of this once great nation...
