RE: <<the company had "a fabulous finish to the year," said BancBoston Robertson Stephens analyst Daniel Niles. Niles officially projects Dell will post earnings of 30 cents a share on revenue of $5.47 billion for the quarter, although he said the company's earnings will probably come in closer to 32 cents to 33 cents a share and its revenue will likely be over $5.5 billion.">>

Great detective work, Lockeon!!!

Someone should fax this to CNBC and urge them to track down Niles (wonder if he'll still be travelin' on Tuesday) After all, Niles deserves a forum to explain the rationale for his flip-flop, right? Why wasn't the end of the quarter so "fabulous" after all? Did some new information come to light in the past 11 days that caused such a dramatic change in sentiment? He must have a very good explanation, right? After all, he's not just some junior analyst.

CNBC would probably never follow up on the lead (I think they'd be delighted to see Dell drop another 12 points.....that keeps people tuned in, doesn't it?) But they should. This is quite a story.
