One thing that might cause someone to lose faith is management projections for turnarounds that never occur. For instance, if the management of a company says that the turnaround will occur 4th quarter 1998 and it still hasn't happened, the analysts begin to lose faith.

Also, "faith" comes in degrees. What was once faith may slowly transform into "hope" or "wishing," and over time, into disgust.
