mb,>>>Price is everything. I'm not sure what I think the stock is worth, but it's well south of $100. What's your fair value? And why?<<<

If you have any chance of being right, then you whould make a killing shorting the hell out of the NASDAQ Index.

Intel is quiding analyst for 30 to 40% growth in earnings per share. Average analyst estimates call for 1999 earnings in the $4.70 range.

My take is that Craig Barrett is not a gambler. He will not guide analyst to a number that he does not think he could make very comfortably. He is not a loser. He will not start his tenure as CEO by blowing earnings target (for the most part Xeon sales and profits are not fully included in most analyst estimates as it is a totally new market for Intel sales).

If Intel comes in at $5.00 that will put your fair value for Intel at a PE of 20 - far less than NASDAQ average - for 30 to 40% revenue growth and possibly if not the most profitable company on earth - or at least one of the top 3 most profitable comnpanies on earth ever from the dawn of civilization.

Your less than $100 estimate can happen only if we see a drop of 3100 points on the DOW or 800 points on the NASDAQ.

Your less than $100 valuation reflects more on your thoughts about the makret in general than anything specific about Intel. There is a difference.
