Canadian Placer Dome (PDG)
claims
Chavez Frias appointments have sabotaged
early
completion of $575 million gold project
-- report © by VHeadline/VENews Business Reporter --

VHeadline/VENews: Thursday, February 11, 1999 -- Business
News Americas is reporting that new appointments at the
Venezuelan Guayana Corporation (CVG) following the election
of President Hugo Chavez Frias has delayed completion of
financing for a US$575 million Canadian Placer Dome (PDG)
gold project in Venezuela. The news service quotes PDG sources
and says that the Las Cristinas 5 and 7 goldfields in southeastern
Bolivar State are 70%-owned by the Vancouver-based mining
corporation, which has been seeking US$250 million "from a
range of financial institutions" to meet its share of outstanding
project finance.
