X, I too am sorry to hear about your father's death. I just now read about it. I would not have guessed that one of the people involved in these discussions would have such a close personal experience. I have not commented until now, but my position is to support the death penalty. Work needs to be done to make it apply to rich and poor alike. There should be no O.J.s walking free because they could afford a high profile liar (er lawyer) while a poor man gets executed. I heard a Canadian comedian once remark "what are you Americans thinking when you let a person go because he is insane. That's all the more reason to execute them." There is no guarantee that an insane person is ever cured, therefore we need to protect the innocent majority.
