First Full Day of Drilling

Isaac's Harbour, Nova Scotia (February 13, 1999) - We pulled 35-meters of core today. Vein 27 appears to split into at least two major veins each 30 cm (12-inches) wide. 6-mm (1/4") wide pieces of visible gold were sited on some of the quartz sections. We will hand-cob these bits for show purposes and to mitigate the assay. We are expecting extremely high results in isolated segments as it is. These high concentrations would only add incredulity to the findings for now.

In addition to the gray schist that occupies the widths between quartz vein material we encountered hard rock. This slowed the coring feed rate. If this continues we will be back to the original estimate of ten days to complete hole #1.

When half the estimated core has been pulled, Doug Boddy will go into town and have the core sections split. We have a time pressure as previously noted. Doug leaving the site is problematic for core logging. We are thinking of asking a fourth-year student at the geology department of the University to do an internship with us and perform the core logging procedures.

Numerous other important data was also yielded, too lengthy to discuss at this writing. We are thinking based on the information that hole #2 should be started back a ways to allow intersection of vein 27 at a depth of 200 meters (660'). This may produce far greater data on the anticline and the saddle formation we are hunting for.

The drilling rig was walked in on a 26-wheeled, triple-axle tractor-trailer. There is a three-man crew drilling. Weather conditions are heavy rain with mixed sleet. Temperature, either side of the freezing point.
