I'm not going to engage on this subject again. It's too time consuming and unrewarding. Suffice it to say we disagree.

My sister's experience was years ago. It's just that she hated him deeply, thought of him as complete monster, understandably. Those overwhelming feelings diminished when she saw his family. She felt sorry for them, and I suppose that that 'humanized' the rapist, to some extent. It might have been a survival mechanism-- she may have needed to do that at some level. She still was afraid of the man, but there was just less hate. He served his term. She didn't fear him later, though I don't know why. But it still was very damaging to her. She to this day checks doors and windows to an obsessive degree, for example.
