Sam, xenphobia is not the issue, the Japanese love to sell into the USA - seems to me that MKE's relationship with QNTM facilitated this. While there are barriers on both sides, and Japan is an important ally, my point is that the USA should insist on equal access to Japanese markets or erect equivalent barriers to Japanese goods - we have been patiently trying to negotiate this for too long. Its time for an equal reaction to every protectionist action of theirs, the fact that much Japanese protectionism resides in their private sector is no excuse.
