Yoh Maurice, Re that GPS -- I have yet to check out coverage in some of the London "Tube Stations". Love to get permission to just do that :-) .. On my previous statement -- My co-workers (young folks who have not yet retired like me) were seriously criticized for not eliminating a source of ground interference, which "jammed" a GPS, and interfered with air traffic.
Seems that some turkey left his unauthorized transmitter on; and went home for the weekend. Unfortunately my friends had no long range missiles at their disposal, and could not launch an attack against the hostile site.
I do think that these types of potential problems need to be seriously considered.
Regarding the military's reliance on GPS -- I'm very suspicious of anything that the USA military, and civilian, bureaucrats choose -- I spent 39 years working around (circumventing) our civillian bureacrats' best decisions, in order to serve my customers; the folks who like to fly safely from one place to another.
Regarding that European Cartel -- Last year, I had difficulty containing my envy at the Brits who were calling home from a bus tour (to Pizza.)
Apparently they were doing so, with a GSM phone; and using a standard which apparently was chosen (by that Cartel) to facilitate roaming across the entire continent.
If this had been done on the North American continent, we would not have to live with our current fractured mess.
Maybe someone can help me here --- Next year I hope to drive westward, across the southern portion of Canada, and up into Alaska. I'd like to carry a cell phone which will allow me to communicate with my family in New England, during the entire trip. What do I use for that purpose ??
Finally, Maurice, Is the Hagfish related in any way to our North American Catfish ??
Best Regards, Mardy. |
