><>..Chris, you keep saying the following...><>
The promise was conditional but you do not show Biblical documentation as to what it was conditional upon. Please show the scripture. It is so ver simple Chris.
Chris,You have shown to this point that you are not aware of the Abrahamic covenant at all, what it entailed, or what it was even based upon. You just have no idea of it's terms.
Again you mix up the Abrahamic Covenant which was, Unconditional, unalterable, and unchangeable, with the national Covenant made at Sinai which was not unconditional.
And thank you again Chris for using scripture which defends my case.
Exod 32:10-14 10 Now therefore let me alone, that my wrath may wax hot against them, and that I may consume them: and I will make of thee a great nation. Let me finish it for you
11 And Moses besought the LORD his God, and said, LORD, why doth thy wrath wax hot against thy people, which thou hast brought forth out of the land of Egypt with great power, and with a mighty hand? 12 Wherefore should the Egyptians speak, and say, For mischief did he bring them out, to slay them in the mountains, and to consume them from the face of the earth? Turn from thy fierce wrath, and repent of this evil against thy people. 13 Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, thy servants, to whom thou swarest by thine own self, and saidst unto them, I will multiply your seed as the stars of heaven, and all this land that I have spoken of will I give unto your seed, and they shall inherit it for ever. 14 And the LORD repented of the evil which he thought to do unto his people. Praise His holy name.!!
Chris you also wrote: Didn't the Lord say in Genesis 17:8 that he would be their God? Yes, and that is also still in effect. Praise His holy name!
Concerning you argument on David, that is another bad example, as it is the national Covenant which of course was conditional. However even in that: Here, God warned Israel (The entire 12 tribes, not just the Jews!)that if they persisted in continually breaking His laws, not only would curses come upon them, He would punish them for seven times (A time being 360 years, seven times would be 2520 years) and would banish them from the land of palastine and scatter them among the heathens.(Lev:26:28-46)
Lev 26:42-46 42 Then will I remember my covenant with Jacob, and also my covenant with Isaac, and also my covenant with Abraham will I remember; and I will remember the land. 43 The land also shall be left of them, and shall enjoy her sabbaths, while she lieth desolate without them: and they shall accept of the punishment of their iniquity: because, even because they despised my judgments, and because their soul abhorred my statutes. 44 And yet for all that, when they be in the land of their enemies, I will not cast them away, neither will I abhor them, to destroy them utterly, and to break my covenant with them: for I am the LORD their God. 45 But I will for their sakes remember the covenant of their ancestors, whom I brought forth out of the land of Egypt in the sight of the heathen, that I might be their God: I am the LORD. 46 These are the statutes and judgments and laws, which the LORD made between him and the children of Israel in mount Sinai by the hand of Moses. (KJV)
For a good many years all went well, the people obeyed the laws of the kingdom and received the promised rewards. (Of the national Covenant made at Mt. Sinai.) Then they began to tire and wanted to be like other peoples around them. First of all they desired an earthly king and God said that although in doing so, they had rejected Him, He would give them permission to have an earthly King (1 Sam.8:7-22) Saul was then appointed as Israel's first king(Tribe of Israel/Israelites.....Not the country, Not any land!) Later he was removed because of sin, and God Himself appointed David (of the Tribe of Judah) to be king over all the Israelites. God then established the throne of David forever!.(2 Sam 7:11-17 and Psalm 89:3-4)making an everlasting covenant with David that this throne and his house would endure forever.
There is so much more but I have other duties at this time and must break off this conversation. I must say Chris this is getting quite old anyway. In any case neither you nor anyone else can ever begin to renege on God's promises, only God can, And we all know He will not. His promises are as good as Gold!
Sincerely, Shalom...><> BTW, your little commentary about dogs was totally uncalled for, and it was meant to hurt and offend, especially in light of your Biblical ignorance as to who the dogs really are. Be careful Chris, for when our Lord Jesus used the term.... He knew of what He was speaking. I don't mean to come across harsh Chris, I just don't know how to say it any other way. |
