maurice, I'm laughing too hard to think of anything (that "approaches intelligence") to say .
All I can say about that leaning tower of "Pizza", is maybe the bloody cheeze melted. Sorry, seems to me that I was complaining about the the leaning tower discussion just a short time ago.
Now that you've explained the different brands of Pizza to me, can you fill me in on the definition of a Mummy Babe, and from there I'll try to handle the "Standalone Babe".
Continuing on about the GPS Jamming Turkey -- I first read about it in the local paper. Our loyal bureaucrats in the New England Regional Office, were laying all the blame for the incident onto my friends at the Air Route Traffic Control Center. Naturally I asked my friends, why they were unable to do their job without my able assistance.
Apparently someone (I think he was in upper New York State) was operating a test setup on a frequency which was reserved for GPS use. To make matters worse, he/she left the transmitting equipment on, and left for the Weekend.
My friends apparently made note of the resulting Pilot Reports, and may or may not have done much else.
At any rate, the Regional Office folks (who were responsible for locating these sources of radio interference), and who work only a normal Monday-Friday week, took a leisurely approach to locating and eliminating the problem. Then, when the sheep poop hit the fan, they laid the blame onto our friends at the FAA Center.
Don't know if that means that GPS are specially prone to this, or any type, of interference -- but it does point out that people who have never before encountered such problems, will have serious difficulty locating the source, and then coping with the even more difficult coordination problems that result.
I can assure you that in cases such as these, dealing with a variety of external contractors, or other government entities, and proving to them that they have a problem -- is a very difficult, and unrewarding experience. And during this time, your customers go without a necessary service.
In this case, because of my own experiences, I think Q's use of the KISS method (Keep It Simple Stupid) may not be the very best choice.
Therefore, if I were the "3G God", I would insist on developing, and maintaining my own synchronisation standard.
Oh, by the way, please let me know when Ericy is ready to part with those big IPR dollars -- I'll dump my Cisco shares and load up on QCOM.
Best, Mardy. |
