Stan, there is no doubt that Sprint's strategy is flood the market before the system is really up. Needless to say, there are risks both sides. They don't want to be too far behind but bad service may hurt their future business.

In San Diego, Pac Bell is offering GSM and was first to market. They did not push PCS as much as Sprint, probably because they are still trying to lock up as many analog contracts as possible and get rid of old analog phone inventory.

AirTouch has a dual mode phone. Also manufactured at the QCOM/SONY facility here in San Diego, the phone has a slightly longer antennae but otherwise is identical.

At the moment, Sprint has the least coverage but they are by far the least expensive. I know what they offer, or more accurately, what they don't offer at this time. I just hope that it does not create negative publicity for Sprint and especially QCOM.
