I've had cable Internet service for about 6 months now...it sure beats dial-up ISPs, but the potential is somewhat wasted due to the "weakest link" principle. Seems there are a lot of slow servers and routers and other bottlenecks out their that take their toll on my speedy connection. File downloads are super-quick of course, only a few seconds for the largest of files. It doesn't do much to improve the quality of streamed AV, although I don't "lose" the stream completely like I used to waiting for my modem to catch up. To me, the best feature is simply the fact that I'm always connected, allowing me to use the computer as a full-time household appliance. My family has accepted and integrated web usage into our daily lives, even my 4-year-old daughter has her own web page! people.atl.mediaone.net (if anyone cares)
Just my perspective.... thanks to everyone on this thread for their continued contributions and good spirited input. As a long time AXC holder and believer, I know our day will come. Peace to all. Tim
