Cortelco de Puerto Rico has joined the group of Lucent Distributors.An official of World Services International (WSI), another Lucent distributor, says Cortelco can perform well in terms of selling Lucent Technologies' products in its specialized niche market, which are the healthcare and hospitality sectors. Present clients of WSI in the hospitality and healthcare sectors will still be getting service and products from WSI. WSI and Cortelco will work at different segments of the market. WSI will focus on the manufacturing and industrial sectors, the media, federal and local government, advertising and publications, banking and insurance and other sectors.

26Jun1996 PUERTO RICO: AT&T COMMUNICATIONS - SOLD - AT&T OF PUERTO RICO ANNOUNCES THE SALE OF BUSINESS UNIT. AT&T of Puerto Rico announced Wednesday that it had just completed the sale of its product and services division to World Services International, Inc., (WSI), a systems and technology company specializing in telecommunications solutions for businesses. WSI is now the authorized distributor of communications products and services for the Business Communications Systems division of Lucent Technologies, the new systems and technology company formed as a result of AT&T's restructure plans. Lucent designs, manufactures, and sells a wide range of advanced telecommunications and technology products. As part of the new agreement, WSI will honor all existing AT&T of Puerto Rico service contracts for business communications products. With offices in Hato Rey and Massachusetts, WSI will serve customers in Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands for Lucent Technologies. "We are very happy to be introducing WSI into this very vibrant marketplace in Puerto Rico," stated Ramon Arce, President of AT&T Puerto Rico. "This announcement completes the restructuring of AT&T here on our island and accomplishes our main objective, to ensure a smooth transition for our customers and our employees," he added. Lucent Technologies, is currently the world's largest provider of telecommunications systems and products with more than 125,000 employees and offices in 90 countries. "Puerto Rico represents an important and growing market for Lucent. We remain committed to providing the best business communications solutions and technologies to our customers," said Edison Peres. Lucent Technologies Vice President, Business Communications Systems for the Caribbean and Latin America. "We look forward to working with WSI to continue the excellence in customer service previously provided by AT&T of Puerto Rico," he added. WSI's President and owner, Howard Hager, has had a relationship with AT&T and Lucent, both in the United States and Puerto Rico. His career has included the creation and development of new products in the microwave and satellite communications industry and he holds patents in communications and digital designs. "We are very pleased to be able to offer our customers in Puerto Rico business solutions that have been designed with the most advanced technology in the telecommunications field founded on Bell Laboratories innovations," stated Mr. Hager.
