-Edit-PMJI, Mary, but imo, DELL is no MSFT. Be careful. MSFT will not fall on its face because it owns the proprietary part of a thriving market. Dell could fall very fast as it has no special privileges in the market--no intellectual property. Its advantage lies in the way it manages its marketing, manufacturing, and distribution. Any company with the will, the resources, and the smarts can cut into Dell's position in a few months. I certainly do not have an axe to grind w/Dell at all. I have enjoyed the MSFT horse for many years as you have. I just don't believe the two companies are positioned comparably and thought that I should share that caution with you. If you have read Moore's "The Gorilla Game" you will understand my perspective. If you have not read it, you miss reading it at your own peril, as it has described and reinforced an important investment model that is a self-fulfilling prophesy if nothing else.
