Bravo, Meredith !

<"Since politicians seem only interested in staying in power and not making any unpopular but sometimes necessary decisions, what function do they serve?">

Well... I believe... they're there to decide how to squander the tax money they confiscate from us.

<"The reason that Clinton is popular is because, like a chameleon, he changes his positions to match prevailing popular opinion. Since the media holds so much power over popular opinion, maybe they are currently running this country! And if you don't know how to manipulate the media forget any idea of running for President!">

You're right! The media has an enormous influence on popular opinion. As you know, the media also leans decidedly to the left.

Here's an interesting piece from this morning's Washington Times:

--------------------------------------

Look away

Now that President Clinton has escaped impeachment, a new
poll by U.S. News & World Report shows 41 percent of those
polled say Republicans are more "principled," compared with 26
percent for Democrats.

While 40 percent say Republicans are "extremist," 41 percent
say the GOP "shares my values." And 29 percent say the
Democrats are "partisan," compared with 26 percent who say
Republicans are "partisan."

The poll also shows that 61 percent think children will have
"less respect for their country and the presidency because of the
White House scandal and impeachment trial." And 73 percent
say Mr. Clinton's acquittal shows "people looked the other way
because of the strong economy."
