Dear Chris: This sounds sort of like CPQ and their talk of spinning off Alta Vista as an IPO. So far there has been no mention of existing CPQ shareholders getting any AV stock etc etc. Although early indications are CPQ would retain about 50% of the AV stock thus I suppose benefitting (along with shareholders) if the AV stock soars like a typical internet stock has. However, cpq owned 100% of AV whereas EMC only owns 80% of McData so I doubt they could keep even 50%. So unless we shareholders are somehow in the process I fail to see how this would benefit us much, might even hurt us. JDN
