Why is this a matter of black and white for people like yourself??

I'm not saying that gold has no value. It obviously does psychologically or it wouldn't even command the current price it does.

What I would like to assess and analyse, is the inter-relationships between gold and the other reserve currencies in a deflationary economy.

And since psychology is so inherent in valuing ANY commodity or currency, why are you opposed to dissecting your own belief systems in gold and how the world affects that beleif system??

Were I in no doubt that we were facing strong inflation, I would concur that their is a solid argument for gold. We certainly have the recent historical record to reflect golds performance when inflation strikes the US dollar.

However, we're in a global disinflation/deflation, where prices for commodities continue to decline to historic lows. That is a slighty tougher scenario to analyse given the economic complexities it creates.

Regards,

Ron
