To me, this sounds like some sort of RAM problem. Most of these types of problems are caught before a machine is shipped. But, sometimes, you get a module that just acts up once in a while .. those kinds of hardware problems can be a real pain in the a$$ to fix.

BTW I've seen RAM problems in MACs before also.
