Canadian Equity Movers: Golds, Crosskeys, Gulfstream Resources
Toronto, Feb. 15 (Bloomberg) -- Canadian stocks were mixed as gains by Bombardier Inc. and Newbridge Networks Corp. offset losses by Northern Telecom Ltd. and BCE Inc.
The Toronto Stock Exchange 300 Composite Index rose 7.61, or 0.1 percent, to 6441.30.
The following stocks are making significant gains or losses in Canadian markets today. Symbols are given in parentheses after company names.
Inflows and outflows represent the difference between the value of trades made at a higher price than the previous trade and those made at a lower price.
Such money flows show whether people are willing to pay more for a stock that's rising, or to sell a stock that's falling for less. If they aren't, it's a signal that the share price may soon change direction.
Gold stocks rose after the price of bullion for immediate delivery rose US$0.20 to US$289.75 in London. Barrick Gold Corp. (ABX CT) rose C$0.10 (US$0.07) to C$29.20, Placer Dome Inc. (PDG CT) rose C$0.10 to C$18.10, and TVX Gold Inc. (TVX CT) rose C$0.02 to C$2.17.
Alliance Forest Products Inc. (ALP CT) rose C$0.20 to C$16.50. The Montreal-based timber and paper company said fourth- quarter profit fell to C$11.8 million, or C$0.31 a share, from C$13.1 million, or C$0.37, a year earlier, beating analysts estimates. Alliance was expected to earn C$0.21 a share, the average estimate of four analysts polled by First Call Corp.
Crosskeys Systems Corp. (CKY CT) rose C$0.50 to C$9.75. The Ottawa-based telecommunications software company was reiterated ''strong buy'' by analyst Barry Richards at Sprott Securities. The 12-month target price is C$17.00 per share.
Extendicare Inc. (EXE/A CT) fell C$0.30 to C$5.65. The Markham, Ontario-based nursing home operator was cut to ''reduce'' from ''buy'' by analyst John McIlveen at Scotia Capital Markets, and cut to ''underperform'' from ''hold'' by analyst Rossa O'Reilly at CIBC Wood Gundy.
Gulfstream Resources Canada Ltd. (GUR CT) rose C$0.10 to C$3.05 on outflow of C$10,000. The Calgary, Alberta-based oil and gas company said fiscal first-quarter profit rose to C$11.4 million, or C$0.19 a share, from C$2.7 million, or C$0.05, a year earlier.
PC Docs Group International Inc. (DXX CT) fell C$0.15 to C$6.75. The Toronto-based legal software maker said its directors rejected an unsolicited takeover bid from Solution 6 Holdings Ltd.
Repadre Capital Corp. (RPD CT) rose C$0.10 to C$2.45. The Toronto-based mining investment company said it agreed to acquire shares of Golden Knight Resources Inc. for a combinations of cash, shares and warrants of Repadre.
Uniglobe Travel Online Inc. (UTO CV) rose C$0.35 to C$6.15. The Vancouver, British Columbia-based online travel information agency said traffic to its website and travel bookings doubled in January compared with December.
