Interesting issues. I have also heard that Datek trades for its own account through ISLD though I have no personal knowledge of this.

I would guess that you cannot cross/lock on Datek because they almost never go outside their own book. Cross/locks come from failure to execute at the standing inside bid/offer and prompting the software to display. No display would ever be necessary if the executions are always internal, thus no cross/lock kills.

I used to trade with Datek and loved the fast executions (most of the time) but moved on to MBT to get L2 and streaming quotes. Considering how unstreaming the L2 and quotes are much of the time, Datek remains a temptation, except for the fact that they have reliability issues that are just as serious as any other online broker. I remember getting shut out of my Datek account for five hours one day because their password server died. Not good.
