Sure it would. But that's not even in the cards as a possible remedy. The internet properties really have nothing to do with this case. It's about Windows95/98 and IE. If there were a breakup, it would be a much more fundamental split. Impossible to say what the DOJ might propose, but their proposal would involve something designed to weaken the market dominance of Windows.

I still believe, however, that MS could circumvent any recommendation by proposing a settlement that would be beneficial to shareholders and satisfactory to the DOJ. (Since this article's notion that the government seeks to "punish" shareholders is silly.)
