Purely personal opinion, but the Oval Office is a public place.
Indeed, I think a porn theatre (isn't that where PeeWee was a bad boy? my memory may serve me wrong--it frequently does and I'm too lazy to look stuff up) is in a way a more "private place" than the White House.
While no one may want his private life aired, most of us realize when we are indiscreet, that there is always a chance of revelation. Most mature, responsible, moral adults are able to evaluate and refrain from actions that can hurt others in such a terrible way. Every day we have to make choices, public and personal, that affect others, and the President made what I consider extremely stupid and selfish ones.
I have no sympathy for him at all.
