I got to hand it to MRY. The management is certainly doing their job and securing sales and contracts. Any run up is followed by a pull back, and I sold some shares at $1.10. However, I am still holding my core shares for the long term.
Now that BA has been sold a crew scheduling system, I came across an interesting news release. BA is also part of the 'one wold' alliance which includes airlines such as Cathway, Canadian Airlines, Finnair and American Airlines. Japan Airlines may join them.... if one Airline has a superior crew scheduling software system, is it possible that the others may look at it?

Oneworld group of airlines in talks with others
SYDNEY, Feb 15 (Reuters) - The Oneworld global airline alliance said on Monday it was in talks with other airlines.
''We are speaking with other airlines,'' James Strong, Qantas Airways Ltd chief executive, told Reuters.
Strong, currently Oneworld chairman, said the talks were in various stages and declined to name the airlines.
Strong and six other airline chief executives held a news conference to announce that Spanish carrier Iberia has formally joined the grouping.
The five other Oneworld companies are American Airlines (NYSE:AMR - news), British Airways Plc (quote from Yahoo! UK & Ireland: BAY.L), Cathay Pacific Airways Ltd , Canadian Airlines Corp (Toronto:CA.TO - news) and Finnair .
The alliance, launched in September, combines the airlines' timetables and frequent flyer programmes and already covers 632 destinations in 138 countries.
On Friday, BA and American Airlines said they had jointly bought 10 percent of Iberia.
Spain is expected to sell more than 50 percent of the airline to the public later this year. Finnair, which joined Oneworld in December, is also in the process of floating.
Strong told reporters the grouping would likely grow.
''There would be more members expected,'' he told reporters.
British Airways chairman Colin Marshall told Reuters in New Delhi that he saw the likelihood of Japan Airlines joining Oneworld.
''It would be logical to believe that eventually Japan Airlines Limited will seriously consider joining the Oneworld alliance,'' Marshall said on Friday.
JAL has a bilateral alliance with BA under which they share booking codes and frequent flyer programmes. JAL also has bilateral ties with other Oneworld airlines.
Its rival All Nippon Airways Co is due to join the rival Star alliance, led by United Airlines (NYSE:UAL - news) and Lufthansa (quote from Yahoo! UK & Ireland: LHAG.F).
Star also includes Scandinavian Airlines System , Air Canada (Toronto:AC.TO - news), Thai Airways and Brazilian carrier Varig .
Cathay Pacific deputy chairman and chief executive David Turnbull told reporters Oneworld wanted only quality members.
''We have to make sure that we do have a superior quality network, as well as having a large network,'' Turnbull said.
''We have to make sure we don't close every gap just for the sake of closing every gap,'' he said, adding the alliance aimed to become a household name.
''Five years from now, Oneworld should be one of the great names of the world, like Coca-Cola,'' Turnbull said. |
