Banker

WILMINGTON, Mass., Feb. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Advanced Mammography Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: MAMO), developer of the only FDA approved, MRI-based dedicated breast imaging system, the Aurora(TM), announced today it has retained InterFirst Capital, f/d/b/a as Baraban Securities, a Los Angeles-based investment banking firm, to provide strategic financial advice to the company. InterFirst will provide advisory services to include such matters as financing strategies, development of strategic alliances, mergers and acquisitions and maximization of equity value.

InterFirst Capital specializes in working with growth companies of small- to mid-capitalization structure, seeking capital for expansion, acquisitions or other strategic purposes. "A significant portion of our advice to Advanced Mammography will concern managing the tremendous growth potential that we expect might result from the developing commercial interest in the Aurora," said Paul Kessler, managing director/principal, of InterFirst. "Our interest in Advanced Mammography reflects our confidence in the company's leadership position in its primary industry (with respect to its Aurora MRI scanning machine)."

"We are pleased to be working with an investment banking partner that truly understands the potential that the commercial availability of the Aurora represents to this company," said Jack Nelson, chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Advanced Mammography. "Paul Kessler brings extensive skills in working with small- to mid-capitalization growth companies that are unique in his field."

Advanced Mammography Systems, Inc., has developed the only dedicated breast imaging system, the Aurora, based on magnetic resonance imaging technology. The company commenced commercial marketing activities for the system following clearance of the product by the FDA in February 1996.
