I had a similar problem with a generic computer. Changed power supply, memory, video card, motherboard,... everything but the modem card. Cursor still froze... had to reboot on many occasions when cursor disappeared or froze. Finally I purchased a FILTERING UPS. Have not had a cursor or mouse movement or program freeze failure since. You still may have conflicting software as well.
