From my post on Yahoo!:

>>Avid has finally done what I've been criticizing it for not doing over the past couple of years, namely, sales went up significantly. This is a very positive signal, IMO. For years, I have warned about unrealistic expectations when Avid got hyped up to $40 plus, only to come crashing down again when shareholders realized the growth wasn't there.

My major uncertainty now is exactly how the writeoff will affect the biz, and whether the increase in sales was due mostly to other products than its flagship NLE workstations, which I've maintained is a niche market with limited growth potential. FYI, this current quarter is typically Avid's seasonally worst, since a lot of customers wait until the NAB (National Association of Broadcasters) convention in April before making any buying decisions...

...As always, do your own research. The Avid story is definitely getting better.
