Tim Russert? Hmmmm . . . I know this will sound shallow, but I like commentators/news guys who are easy on the eyes the best, all things being equal. Brian Williams on MSNBC falls into that category for me. I find Sam Donaldson not cute but very amusing and brave in the questions he asks. This Week on ABC is my favorite weekend talking head show, mostly because of Bill Kristol, who is conservative but extremely intelligent, and seems much more compassionate than George Will. As far as ridiculously over the top, the new McLaughlin show on MSNBC is a total hoot.

Does anyone remember Arthur Kent, who reported the first Iraqi war in the early nineties for NBC, from that roof in Baghdad? He had fairly long dark hair, was attractive, and wore a leather jacket? He was the first guy that my daughter and I both agreed on was to die for. The memories of us huddled in front of the tv together waiting more for his face to appear rather than to hear the latest news became even more strange when I heard last year that he was gay, which is just fine if it's true, but raises serious doubts about my ability to zone in on raw masculine heterosexual energy. I guess it was the jacket that did me in!
