I had looked up this NTSL "conclusion" and read it, Bong.

Guess it was just a "bake-off" against Media Player. But as MSFT licenses an older Real format, aren't we, in effect, simply comparing two successive generations of Real's streaming technology here? If this is the case, I'm not sure what Real is really proving by retaining NSTL to "preach to the converted," so to speak. Shouldn't the test have been to compare Real's proprietary format to any and all other proprietary formats?

And then we get to the issue of higher data rates vs. lower data rates. Real has always optimized for modest data rates, since that's where the greatest number of users are found (dial-up, </=56kbps). But what happens above 56kbps? That's now a relevant metric and Real ought to be making the case for high performance in high bandwidth environments.

What am I missing here?
