I agree that guns are dangerous, and am very sad that sometimes innocent children play with them and are injured. I know it is a problem, I went to school with a fellow who shot and killed his brother in just such an accident.

I am constantly conscious of the myriad ways my children could be injured. Today I took the younger one swimming, and I was worried that he would hit his head diving. I worry that they will break their necks playing on playground equipment. I worry that they will get hit by cars. I worry that they will sneak out and play on the frozen pond and fall in and drown. I worry that a stranger will snatch them. I worry that they will inhale a balloon and suffocate, or choke on a piece of steak, or get accidentally electrocuted, or the house will catch on fire, or the furnace will malfunction and we will die of carbon monoxide poisoning. On and on and on. You name it, I worry about it.
