Brumar,
Good questions.....
First and foremost, everything I believe must be verified against the scriptures. If it falls in line, I buy it. If not, it gets the boot. If you have something that you feel is communicated to you by God, that falls in line with scripture, I would surely consider it. In fact, when I am in need of advise or council, I ask other Christians to pray for me, along with obviously my own praying. Sometime they get answers to my prayer that I might not necessarily get, that helps me through the situation I prayed about. And that leads into your other question.......
The difference it has made in my life is nothing short of a miracle! It has given me a inner peace that I never had before at anytime in my life. I have the assurance of eternal life, where before my religion taught me to do my best, and if I measured up to some standard, one in which they could not clearly define, I might make it to heaven. But I would not know until I met with God. And that surely was not fair.
It has made me somewhat selfless, where before I was totally selfish. I care about others, sometimes more than for myself. not only care about others salvation, but their day to day problems, their griefs and sorrows. I try to help others when sometimes it might do harm to myself. I just care a whole lot more for others than I ever did before.
I have a close, tight relationship to God. A clear pathway of communication for all advise and day to day living instructions. This communication is obtained through prayer and God's word, the bible. I have the perfect rules to live by, that will only bring total happiness to me if I live by them. Before I was saved, I lived by the self-defined rules that I never had assurance would help me at the end if I lived by them. And they were changing rules defined by the times. IMPERFECT RULES!
Some of the new features I possess, after faith in Christ are patience, kindness, love for others, and a burden for others. In fact, before faith, I probably wouldn't have answered your questions or bothered being on a board called Ask God. I would have been looking for the hot stock and tracking down information on how to make and worship the might buck. Now, I am happy and glad to answer your question and hope I could keep a conversation going with you to find out what you believe, and help you in anyway I can. That is of course if you want it and need it! God Bless, Steve |
