A gun would be my method of choice for suicide, too. Though I once read about a study which was essentially just following up, some years later, a lot of cases of serious attempted suicide (cases that were well documented medically,) and I was very struck at how many of those who were interviewed couldn't remember why they'd try to kill themselves. If I ever get to that point I'm going to remember that study.

I also read, and made a mental note to remember, about a study that asked people to describe their most serious 'worries.' What was learned from this study, which also involved followup years later, was that only a very very small percentage of what people worry about happens. OTHER things happen... but rarely are they the ones you have worried about.

These are two of the three mini-mantras I use to keep things in perspective! (The third is my favorite, but it is so corny I have actually been ridiculed when I offered it to people as an aid to mental health!)
