HAUPPAUGE, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 6, 1997--TSR, Inc. (NASDAQ:TSRI), Joseph Hughes, Chairman, announced today that, "In a recent meeting with the Chief Information Officer of a Fortune 500 publishing company, TSR was advised that the unit test conducted last month for the company was a success. The pilot project consisted of a conversion by TSR of an 80,000 line COBOL program to be Year 2000 compliant, using TSR's CATCH/21 software. "At this meeting, the CIO said that he plans to enter into an agreement to engage TSR to convert the company's IBM mainframe applications to make them Year 2000 compliant. The CIO believes that using CATCH/21 will result in significant savings in both cost and time as the company proceeds with application conversion for Year 2000 compliance. Obtaining this conversion agreement is of course predicated on the assumption that our proprietary conversion product, CATCH/21, will continue to perform according to the client's expectations. The Fortune 500 company is conducting final testing, which consists of parallel month end processing in February." TSR also announced today that it had entered into an agreement with a Fortune 500 international pharmaceutical company to convert a COBAL application in order to demonstrate that TSR's CATCH/21 software will meet the company's expectations. According to Bill Connor, CATCH/21 architect, the product utilizes a solution approach described as the "Sliding Century." This method enables CATCH/21 to make applications Year 2000 compliant at a very low cost and over a reduced time period by automating the process to a significant degree and by avoiding changes to files or program logic. The information contained herein includes certain forward-looking statements concerning the future prospects of TSR's CATCH/21 software. These statements involve risks and uncertainties, including the risk that the CATCH/21 software will not perform satisfactorily in future testing, result in orders or achieve commercial acceptance, as detailed in the Company's filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission. TSR is a provider of computer consulting service and Year 2000 software solutions.
