John: You make too much sense.. !!!!! Thanks for defending DELL and the integrity of our thread. I liked your point #2.....

<<(2) When has he not been proclaiming this...It means nothing...Should he be saying..."oh, by the way, we run scared everytime we go head-to-head with Dell"...BTW- I also hold some CPQ, but could use less quotables, and more execution...>>

Yet, I would not hold CPQ. They take their eye off the ball too often. Most of their top talent has left for startups or gone to DELL. IMO, they claim they are adopting the DELL model and selling more directly to customers. Well, CPQ (and ALOT of competitors) are trying to implement a couple of elements of the DELL virtual integration model.

I believe that the DELL model cannot be duplicated -- many things must come together at the right time. Michael Dell is like a famous conductor and he knows how to get the DELL symphony to perform like champions each day of the week. Firms like CPQ (and HP) are still taking piano lessons.....who knows when the competitors will be able to perform like master direct marketers that leverage the internet and manufacturing efficiencies in masterful ways. The only other hardware firm I had stock in was GTW...not a bad firm....but I decided I could use some more DELL (I must have talked with Kemble too much <ggg>)......In fact, you can never have too many shares of DELL. I think I may buy more on margin tomorrow morning. The earnings release should be BETTER than we all expect....I count on Michael to captain this ship back up into the triple digits.

Enjoy the ride this week.
