A small contribution to the Rambus/DDR debate.

It is absolutely clear that systems will ship with Rambus before they ship with DDR.

I have personally worked on a prototype PC motherboard which was using Rambus. I have never seen so much as a drawing showing a design with DDR in it.

PC manufacturers still have quite long design cycles when you take into account the time marketing takes defining the requirements. Rambus systems are advanced to the stage where they have shipping dates defined. I don't belive DDR systems have come out of marketing yet, I think DDR is only an insurance policy at this stage.
