I have seen those studies and while they may hold true for some cultures I don't think they apply across the board. Look at the Eskimo culture, men have lots of "work" to do. Same with early European cultures. It would have been impossible to subsist during the winter without meat in colder climates. I think you can see that in the Indian cultures of America. The agrarian cultures sprang up in the moderate climates while the hunting/nomadic people were in harsher climates.
