George, I am still outraged by FDA having to have their pound of flesh especially at expense of our young kids. Everyone should write their Congressperson about why there had to be total death requirement in Meningo. trial and why immediate compassionate use was not started immediately at beginning of this year Meningitis season. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> N. Dakota town to immunize children for meningitis
WILLISTON, N.D. (Reuters) - Up to 5,000 children will begin receiving immunization shots to combat a bacterial meningitis outbreak which has killed one child in the area, health officials said Tuesday.
A 2-year-old boy died last week and the bacteria was isolated in two other children, according to Beth Lindahl, a public health nurse for the local health department.
Nearly 40 nurses from surrounding districts and local hospitals will be administering the shots over three days beginning Wednesday, Lindahl said.
Williston is a town of about 13,000 in northwest North Dakota.
