(Reuters) - Up to 5,000 children will begin receiving immunization shots to combat a bacterial meningitis outbreak which has killed one child in the area, health officials said Tuesday. A 2-year-old boy died last week and the bacteria was isolated in two other children, according to Beth Lindahl, a public health nurse for the local health department. Nearly 40 nurses from surrounding districts and local hospitals will be administering the shots over three days beginning Wednesday, Lindahl said.
